Kasey Carmody is one of Las Vegas’s premier classical guitarists and guitar instructors.               Teaching approach and Philosophy

I approach teaching in a non-dogmatic way as I feel each students learning process is unique and goals are individual. However, regardless of style or level I feel it is integral to high quality instruction to stress some basic musical and technical principles of playing the instrument. Rather your a serious student with aspirations of becoming a pro, a weekend rock star who wants to be able share music with friends and family or just beginning and have no idea where to start, I’m truly happy and grateful to be your guitar guide.

Some examples of material covered from beginning to advanced levels.

  1. Finger-style and plectrum.
  2. Reading music (Always optional for adult students)
  3. Chords: CAGED system, the theory behind chord construction, common progressions in various styles, arpeggios for both finger-style and plectrum style, more advanced chords,  extensions and substitutions.
  4. Scales: 5 pentatonic shapes, modes, Segovia scales, altered scales and there musical/technical applications.
  5. Left hand techniques and positions for various styles, slurring, bending, and different types of vibrato.
  6. How to learn pop songs, classical pieces, and interpret jazz charts.
  7. Implementation of etudes as both musical exercises and to address technical issues.
  8. Applying music theory to the guitar.
  9. How to practice: managing time, being organized, what to do, and most importantly how to maintain a healthy perspective  through the ups and downs of the learning process. my teaching is always evolving as I am perpetually evolving my craft.
